Young bagworms are hard to see even as they approach an inch in length. Control is most effective when bags are less than 1 inch long. This occurs in late June or early July. Adult fall webworm and egg mass on crabapple.
Fall webworm make very large webs at the edge of branches. These webworms have 2 generations a year. Best control is acheived by targetting the first generation. Look for small webs in the first generation. Prune them out or spray them with an appropriate insecticide.
