Congratulations to 2008 OVEA winners

 

Bachelors Category:

First Place - Megan Meuti from The Ohio State University presented a paper entitled, “The effects of dietary nitrogen on symbiotic nitrogen fixation in the eastern subterranean termite, Reticulitermes flavipes (Isoptera: Rhinotermitidae)".

Second Place - Michael Chambers from Wittenburg University presented a paper entitled, “Fungal cleaning behavior of mites as a possible benefit to the Madagascar hissing-cockroach and potential role for suppressing mold allergy in humans”.

Third Place - Matt Paschen from Purdue University presented a paper entitled, “Evaluation of a commercially-available pheromone lure as a generic attractant for longhorned beetles in the subfamily Cerambycinae”.

First Place - Annie Spikes from Purdue University presented a paper entitled, “Chemically mediated mate location and recognition in the primitive longhorned beetle M. dasystomus" (Say).

Second Place - Paul Ayayee from University of Kentucky presented a paper entitled, “Feeding site characteristics may influence susceptibility to
the hemlock woolly adelgid, Adelges tsugae”.

Third Place - Terri Hoctor from Purdue University presented a paper entitled, “Comparison of indigenous and commercial strains of the nematode Heterorhabditis bacteriophora”.

Second Place - Hua Biah from University of Kentucky presented a paper entitled, “G protein-coupled receptors as target sites for pesticides: Functional characterization of GPCRs in the red flour beetle ”.

Third Place - Eunho Suh from University of Kentucky presented a paper entitled, “Characterization of life-shortening Wolbachia infection in Aedes albopictus (Asian tiger mosquito) ”.
