Kirkhouse Trust

Special Interests: UK charity established in 2000, with science objectives currently focused on supporting crop improvement in regions where science education and research are under developed - and with a special interest in legume research and marker assisted selection techniques.

Trust Personnel: the four Trustees: Professor Edwin Southern (founder); Professor Adrian Bird; Dr Keith Palmer, and Sir Paul Nurse; the Trust Secretary: Dr Sonia Morgan, and the Trust Administrator: Dr Janice Henderson.

Current Activities: the Trust has supported training initiatives in India and Africa . It provides travel grants for conferences and support for collaborative research projects.

The Trust understands the economic importance of crops such as Cowpea and Dolichos Lab and believes that training and research activities are important vehicles for capacity building for science in India and Africa.
