I worked on cowpea projects for several years in Ghana and insects pests were a major problem affecting production. Farmers growing cowpea in Africa continue to experience huge losses from insect pests and by making transgenic insect-resistant cowpea varieties available to them would control some of the major insect pests, improve their yield and livelihood.
