The African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) seeks to help small holder African farmers gain access to existing technologies through partnerships with public and private-sector entities. AATF has a partnership with NGICA to promote increased cowpea productivity and utilization.

Public Understand of Biotechnology This is a South African government-initiated website, initially funded for three-years aimed at improving the Public Understanding of Biotechnology that promotes informed decision making among the population. They have excellent cartoons and poster for distribution.

East African Regional Programme and Research Network for Biotechnology, Biosafety and Biotechnology Policy Development (BIO-EARN) The overall objectives of the BIO-EARN Programme are to: enable countries in the East Africa region to develop biotechnologies and policies according to their own needs, abilities and opportunities, promote collaboration in biotechnology, biosafety and biotechnology policy development to address key challenges and opportunities in the region; and foster communication nationally and regionally between scientists, policy makers, biosafety regulatory officials and private sector.

Cartagena Biosafety Protocol (CBP) This is the main site of information about the CPB, including background and full text of agreement, articles, updated list of signatures and notifications, meetings and documents of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Cartagena Protocol (ICCP), the Biosafety Clearing House, and a database of biosafety capacity-building activities.

International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) The Biosafety Unit of the ICGEB is dedicated to biosafety and risk assessment for the environmental release of genetically modified organisms. It offers information on biosafety concerns, upcoming meetings and training courses, and regularly updated index of selected scientific articles published on biosafety and risk assessment from 1990 onwards. This site also carries an outstanding collection of links to databases on GMO releases. Scientific bibliographies, decision support systems, patents and other topics.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is responsible for the regulation of products derived through biotechnology including plants, animal feeds and feed ingredients, fertilizers, and veterinary biologics. For genetically modified crop plants the CFIA assesses potential risk, costs and benefits, environmental impacts, policy and more.

The UNEP-GEF (United Nations Environment Program - Global Environment Facility) Biosafety Project is funded by the Global Environmental Facility and is based on the Initial Strategy for assisting countries to prepare for entry into force of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety. The main objectives of this strategy are to assist countries in the establishment of their national biosafety frameworks; promote information sharing and collaboration, especially at regional and sub-regional levels; and promote collaboration with other organizations to assist capacity-building for the CPB.

Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) , in conjunction with the field staff of the US Food and Administration, is responsible for promoting and protecting the public health by ensuring that the nation's food supply is safe, sanitary and wholesome, and honestly labeled, and that cosmetic products are safe and properly labeled.

International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI) is a non-profit, worldwide scientific research foundation seeking to improve the well-being of the general public through the pursuit of sound and balanced science. Its goal is to further the understanding of scientific issues relating to the nutrition, food safety, toxicology, risk assessment, and environment.
