Entomology Scholarship application for the 2017-2018 school year opens on November 1, 2016.  Completed applications are due by February 1, 2017.

Candidate Deadlines for Graduate Sudents

Please reference this calendar as well as the list below for important deadlines for Fall 2016 graduate candidates.

·         Friday, December 2, 2016: Final Exam Deadline for CAND 99100 Registrants

 

·         Friday, December 9, 2016: Thesis Deposit Deadline for CAND 99100 Registrants

 

·         Sunday, December 18, 2016: Commencement  

Students who miss any of the deadlines in red may incur a $200 Late Graduation Deadline Fee if they would like to maintain their candidate status for this session. Candidates who request to make updates to an already deposited thesis or dissertation, or who have been listed on the Graduate School’s candidate roster for the same degree more than two consecutive sessions, may also incur this fee. These dates, as well as other key 2016-17 deadlines, are available online on the Graduation Deadlines Calendar webpage for your reference.

ENTOMOLOGY OUTSTANGING M.S., Ph.D., and Service by a Student Award Nominations Open!

 

Due Date: November 14, 2016

 

Nominations are now being accepted for this year’s Entomology Student Awards! Please read the attached information to see if you or a student you know qualifies. This is a great opportunity to recognize our outstanding students (they’ll get a certificate and a prize too!). Awards will be announced in December.

Career Closet Shoe & Tie Drive

The Career Closet was recently featured in JC Online and is currently participating in a SHOE & TIE drive. They are open to receiving other professional items as well, but are currently in high need of shoes and ties. Items can be donated during normal business hours to Young Hall, 132.

Botany & Plant Pathology Summer 2017 Internships

Purdue is accepting applications for six paid internships for currently enrolled students during Summer 2017 on small acreage vegetable and flower farms across Indiana. Applications are due by November 30th 2016. Application requirements and submission information is available here.  

Perrault Farms Hops Internship

Perrault Farms in Toppenish, WA is looking for entomology undergrads who would like paid work in hops. This is a good opportunity for students to get experience in the field while making lots of contacts in a great and growing industry. More information is available in the Internship Flyer.

Scholarships & Awards

2017 Travel Fellowship for the International Stockmen’s Educational Foundation

In an effort to enhance the educational experiences of college students and strengthen the leaders of tomorrow’s livestock and meat industries, the International Stockmen’s Educational Foundation (ISEF) awards International Livestock Congress travel fellowships each year to senior-level undergraduates and graduate students currently enrolled in accredited colleges or universities.

 

The International Livestock Congress USA, managed through a partnership of the ISEF and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™, is a unique global event that brings leaders from the livestock and meat industries together to discuss issues of international importance that affect the future of animal agriculture. Students will participate in the event March 8 – 9, 2017, in Houston, Texas that will include a student career workshop, the International Livestock Congress USA, and associated tours and activities.

Farm Credit Mid-America College Leaders Scholarship Program

College of Agriculture Students are invited to apply for the Farm Credit Mid-America College Leaders Scholarship by November 15th, 2016, and participate in leadership development. More information is available on this flyer.  

Mid America Croplife Association Scholarship

Sophomores and Juniors who meet the scholarship requirements are welcome to complete an application for the MACA 2017 Young Leader Scholarship Program. The application, and specific requirements, are available on the MACA 2017-2018 Application.  Application and materials are due by January 20th.

Garden Club of America Scholarship

Every year, The Garden Club of America extends an invitation to qualified students at the undergraduate and Post graduate levels to apply for one of their 27 merit based scholarships, fellowships, internships, and awards. The GCA website at www.gcamerica.org/scholarships provides a comprehensive listing of their offerings, application requirements, deadlines, and funding levels, or see the flyer  to learn more about the botanical scholarship offerings.
