PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS Welcome new students (and returning ones)! The Department of Entomology invites you to help connect
non-scientists with bugs by volunteering through our outreach program. In
September, we have 3 events scheduled: Sunday, September 10th Community Block Party Off Campus; Lafayette IN Noon to 3 pm (transportation provided if needed; free snacks!) Wednesday, September 13th Rainbow Callout On Campus; 6pm to 8pm Monday, September 18th Ag Explorers High School Program On Campus; 5pm to 6:30pm If you can help with any of these programs, just send Gwen Pearson an

you’re a total beginner to insect outreach, no worries. Gwen will be there

FALL PICNIC! September 6, 2017 SMITH HALL –
EAST LAWN: 11:30 AM- 1:00 PM Welcome our NEW STUDENTS (Spring 2017, Summer
2017 and Fall 2017). New students will receive their Department
of Entomology T-shirt at the picnic. Faculty, Staff and
Graduate Students: It’s a POTLUCK event – Bring your favorite dish to
share. The department will provide BBQ sandwiches, vegetarian
wraps, baked beans, cole slaw, tea and lemonade. ENTOMOLOGY
UNDERGRADUATE CAPSTONE FORUM FALL 2017 The Fall
Semester 2017 Undergraduate Capstone Forum is scheduled for Thursday,
December 7 (tentatively from 3:30-5:00 pm) in 116 WSLR. Successful completion of the capstone
experience, including an oral presentation, and a written paper or
poster, is a departmental requirement for graduation. Please see

Technician – Entomology Post Harvest Laboratory Dr. Richmond’s
Laboratory will be hiring a couple part time students to help with: 1.
Evaluation
of next generation chemistries against soil-dwelling scarab larve 2.
Development
of biological controls for black cutworms In addition, he will be hire several
students for one or two days of work harvesting scarab larvae from infested
soil. If you are interested in any of the
above work opportunities, please contact Dr. Richmond directly. drichmond@purdue.edu The Landscape Ecology
& Biodiversity lab
has an opening for an undergraduate part-time research assistant during Fall
2017. Duties include sample processing, insect identification, and data
entry. Applicant should have completed ENTM 206+207. Completion
of ENTM 335+336 is desirable. Applicants should be able to work
10–15 hours a week. Pay is $10/hour. Contact Dr. Holland jdhollan@purdue.edu if interested in applying for

AG Career Fair! Save the Date!! october 3, 2017 Mark your
calendars and plan to attend! The fair is open to all students and alums
at Purdue and Ivy Tech. The Career
Fair is not just for graduating students, it is for freshmen, sophomores and
juniors who are exploring career paths or internship opportunities. The
Career Fair is a great way to explore careers, pick-up company information
and network with future employers and ask questions. The only person who
can get you a job or an internship is you. October
