A park in Coyoacan, one of the neighborhoods of Mexico City.

We stopped by many old churches.  All of them were beautifully decorated.

“La Casa Azul”  Frida Kahlo grew up in this house and lived here with Diego Rivera lived here when they were married.

A group picture inside the courtyard of La Casa Azul.

Part of the University of Mexico campus.  The façade of the library is covered with an incredible mosaic.

The boats of Xochimilco.

The canals at Xochimilco are remnants of the lake that once covered much of what is today Mexico City.

After our boat ride, the girls got a present to take home.

The Folkloric Ballet performs many traditional dances from different regions of Mexico.

The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  You can see how much the old basilica has sunk into the ground and is now leaning.

The new basilica that now houses Juan Diego’s tilma.

The interior of the new basilica.  Mass is said almost continuously all day long.

Juan Diego’s cloak with the image of Mary is framed above the altar.
