Butterfly Count
In the summer, Eli Lilly and Company in conjunction with the
Entomology Department at Purdue University sponsor the Tippecanoe County Butterfly Count.
Volunteers will take a census of all the butterflies sighted within the Eli Lilly
Company Wildlife Habitat Area located across from the Lafayette facility.

4H/FFA Entomology Competition
Twenty-seven teams from around the state competed in the state
entomology judging contest.

HASTI
Observe our famous tractor pulling cockroaches,
learn about our outreach programs that are available
to your students, or investigate ways insects can
be used in the classroom to increase student excitement.

State Fair
The Department of Entomology has a display during the
duration of the Indiana State Fair in Our Land Pavilion.
Staff and students will be available to provide information
on department research, extension, and outreach activities
as well as admissions, financial aid and academic programs.
Observe live insects, admire pinned insects, or check out
cockroach races at Roachill Downs.

Insectaganza
Each October "Insectaganza" provides
1,500 fifth graders throughout Tippecanoe County with
the opportunity to have a hands-on and minds-on experience
with insects during a day-long experience at Purdue.
Future scientists are nurtured as they learn about the
science of entomology through insect dissection labs,
the "Insect Quiz Bowl," and presentations
on Insect Biology and Insects and the Humanities.

Day in the Department
Know a student interested in entomology? Day in the Department provides high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and their parents with an opportunity to learn more about insects, discover what entomologists do, and learn what we are doing in the Department of Entomology at Purdue University. 2007 Entomology Science Workshop
The Entomology Department in collaboration with 4-H and Youth Development will hold the second annual Entomology Science Workshop for Youth. Students that participate will travel to the Purdue University campus to lean about insects, interact with youth from across the state, and get aquainted with Purdue University and faculty in the Entomology Department.
