Purdue University's Department of Entomology offers a four-year plan of study that leads
to a bachelor of science (B.S.) degree in Urban and Industrial Pest Management. Specialty
classes may include General Entomology, Insect Taxonomy (adults or immatures), Urban
and Industrial Pests, Insecticides, Vertebrate Pest Management, and Medical and
Veterinary Entomology. Graduates go on to work for the food processing and product
manufacturing industries; for federal, state, and local government agencies; for
professional pest management companies; start their own businesses or to academic careers.
Graduate Programs
The Department of Entomology offers graduate programs leading to Masters (M.S.) and
Doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees in Urban Entomology. Research programs typically focus
on the biology, ecology, and management of urban and industrial pests. Research is also
being conducted on urban pests using molecular and genomic approaches.
