IITA & Bean/Cowpea CRSP
Since the FAO stopped publishing cowpea statistics in the mid1980s, there is no reliable source of international statistics on cowpea production or marketing. Many cowpea scientists need such statistics. Biological scientists need them to explain and justify their programs. Such statistics are the basic elements for socio-economic research. Many countries collect some cowpea statistics. The idea of this effort is to gather the estimates from the various countries in a single publication and circulate it to participating research groups. We currently have data from: Ghana, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, and Cameroon. This is a no-budget effort and to make it work we need you help. Please fill out as much of the form below as possible and send to either Dr. B.B. Singh, IITA, or Dr. Jess Lowenberg-DeBoer, Purdue University (addresses at the bottom of the page). Please note the source of the information and if it appears in a publication please attach a photocopy of the relevant pages.
