Honey bees are critical to our nation's agriculture and are also are fascinating creatures to study because of their many interesting social behaviors. We are applying genomic techniques to detect genes that influence specific bee behaviors. Our lab also is cooperating with Clover Blossom Honey and the Majenica Creek Honey Farm to select bees that are more resistant to Varroa mites so that Indiana beekeepers can use bees that are better adapted to our conditions.
