Scientists are welcome to borrow specimens in support of their research. Loans to graduate students are generally made in care of their major professor. Loans from the general collections are for one year, but may be renewed for additional one-year periods. Although it is preferred that type specimens be examined on site, types may be loaned under special circumstances for a period of one month. All material from identified collections must be returned unless otherwise specified. Upon request, up to one-half of unidentified series may be retained where duplicates of a single population are available.

Donations of specimens to the collection are welcomed.
