Research Interests:

My primary research program includes studies on the biology, economic impact, and control of livestock and poultry arthropod and rodent pests. Also, research is being conducted on the role of calliphorid blow flies in forensic entomological investigations.

Extension/Outreach Activities:

Focuses in the area of arthropods of public health and veterinary importance. Emphasis is placed on addressing the continuous need for development of integrated pest management strategies relative to the protection and productivity of livestock and poultry. This goal is accomplished via field demonstrations, educational publications and programs, responses to daily contacts from clientele, and transfer of information developed from research efforts. The area of public health is addressed through publications and programs, pesticide applicator training, and responses to daily contacts from clientele. I am also the Department coordinator of the 4-H and Youth Program.

Biography:

Patrick Jones, MS, Forensic Lab Director and Graduate Faculty Member, teaches Introduction to Forensic Science, Criminalistics, Criminalistics Lab, and Advanced Criminalistics and Lab at Purdue. He is also the Chief Deputy Coroner of White County, Indiana, and a state certified Medico-Legal Death Investigator. As a 21-year veteran of the Cook County Illinois Sheriff's Police, and with 11 years experience as a Senior CSI, he has worked thousands of cases, including the John Wayne Gacy scene, the Larry Eyler scenes, and American Airlines Flight 191. He has trained members of over 65 police departments and government agencies from the U.S., Canada, and Europe in crime scene investigation. Patrick is a member of the American Academy of Forencsic Science, the International Association for Identification, the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association, the International Homicide Investigator's Association, the Indiana Homicide and Violent Crimes Investigator's Association, the International Crime Scene Investigator's Association, and the Indiana State Coroner's Association.

Biography:

David Tate studied engineering and management as an undergraduate, audiology and speech sciences in graduate school, obtaining an advanced degree in student personnel services and completed the doctoral course work in counseling psychology. He taught the introductory course in Environmental Sciences as well as medical technology and currently is the coordinator for the forensic science courses. In Health Sciences, his responsibilities include the director of the clinical programs as well as the alumni representative officer. Other activities have included program development with The Center for Life Long Learning, and advisor to Lambda Tau, Theta Xi fraternity, Weightlifting Club, Faculty Fellow for Harrison hall, Circle Pines Cooperative, chair of the ROTC Military Hall of Fame, and the Purdue Alumni Association Board of Directors. He has served as the president of the Class of 1970. He is married to Maureen, his high school sweetheart and has a son, Ryan in architectural design. His hobbies are cooking, reading, playing basketball, and travel.
