Quarantine Information

When No Compliant Ash Receiver Site Is Available

If you are working in a quarantined area where there are no compliant ash receiver sites within a reasonable driving distance, you may choose to:

  1. Leave the ash items on site or within the quarantined township
  2. Work under a compliance agreement with the Indiana DNR to:
    1. Chip the material to under 1 inch in diameter (in 2 dimensions) so it can be deregulated
    2. Process ash logs on site with a portable mill so that they will be deregulated
    3. Move regulated items to a CARS under specific conditions at certain times of year

Inspection of the final products by compliance officers of the Indiana DNR and/or USDA APHIS PPQ is necessary before the end products may be moved out of the quarantined area.

If your area doesn’t currently have a compliant ash receiver site, encourage local businesses such as sawmills or landfills to participate.
