The emerald ash borer (EAB) is a devastating exotic insect pest of North American ash trees (Fraxinus spp.). First detected in the Detroit/Windsor area in the summer of 2002, this insect has killed millions of ash trees in Michigan and Ontario, and has since been discovered in parts of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Maryland.
If the EAB problem is not managed, EAB could eliminate ash trees from North America.
