Identifying Ash Trees

alternate branching

Ash trees have branches that grow opposite of each other (think of how your arms are oriented). If the branches are staggered or alternate, the tree is not an ash tree.

Older ash trees have diamond-patterned bark, although this may not be apparent in young trees.
